Windshield Replacement in Columbia & West Columbia, SC

How a Windshield Replacement Works Here
If a chip has spread past repairing, the windshield comes out and a new one goes in. Most replacements take an hour to ninety minutes. If your vehicle needs its camera recalibrated afterwards, allow up to three hours. The work happens at our West Columbia shop on Platt Springs Road, or our mobile service comes to your home or workplace at no extra charge. We are a preferred provider with all the major insurance companies, and we handle the paperwork.
Don’t let a small windshield chip become a big problem. Our free mobile service will come to you…fast!
The next time you and your family ride in your vehicle, remember that the only thing between you and the outdoor elements is the windshield.
If your windshield replacement is improperly installed, the structural integrity of your vehicle is compromised. The windshield provides major structural strength, protecting you and your passengers in the event of a roll-over accident. If the windshield is poorly installed using an unsafe adhesive or inferior glass replacement, the air bag system may also not perform correctly, and passengers can be ejected from the vehicle.
We stand behind every windshield we install. If it ever develops a leak, we will reseal it for you.

Fleet & Commercial Trucks
Sheppard’s Glass is a trusted glass provider for fleets and commercial trucks across the Midlands. From work trucks to large commercial vehicles, we have the experience and equipment to handle any fleet. We work fast to minimize downtime and get your vehicles back on the road.
Other Services
We replace all types of vehicle glass, not just windshields. This includes door glass, door regulators, back glass, and sideview mirrors. If you notice a windshield or back glass leaking, or if you’re experiencing excessive wind noise while driving, our team can quickly diagnose and fix the problem to keep your vehicle safe and comfortable.
Repair or Replace
If a small chip or crack is caught early, repair is a safe option. The damaged area is filled with a resin material that will retain the structural integrity of the glass without damaging the original seal.
If damage is beyond repair, it is best to replace the glass. We will remove the damaged windshield, seal and prime the pinchweld area, clean and prime the new windshield, use the proper adhesive, and add new moldings, if necessary. Your new windshield installed by Sheppards’s Glass will help retain the original structural integrity of your vehicle.
Heavy Equipment Glass Replacement
Sheppard’s Glass does heavy equipment glass replacement for bulldozers, excavators, trackhoes, motorgraders, and cranes. We cut laminated and lexan safety glass on-site. We can also order and install dealer parts if the glass is curved or has holes.
Insurance
Sheppard’s Glass is a preferred provider with all major insurance companies. We handle the paperwork so you don’t have to.
Auto Glass Repair Questions, Answered
Do you repair auto glass in West Columbia?
Yes. West Columbia is where our shop actually is, at 2519 Platt Springs Road, so auto glass repair and windshield replacement here are handled in house rather than referred out. Chip repairs, full windshield replacement, side and back glass are all done either at the shop or on our mobile service.
Where is Sheppard’s West Columbia auto glass shop?
2519 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. It is an easy run from Cayce, Springdale, Lexington and downtown Columbia, and there is no charge for the mobile service if you would rather we came to you.
Can a windshield chip be repaired, or does it need replacing?
It depends on size and location. A chip smaller than a quarter, away from the edge and outside the driver’s line of sight, can usually be repaired in about half an hour. Cracks that reach the edge of the glass, or damage sitting directly in the driver’s view, normally call for a full replacement because the strength of the glass is affected.
Do you offer mobile auto glass repair in Columbia?
Yes. Our mobile service comes to your home or workplace anywhere in the Columbia and West Columbia area at no extra charge, and most chip repairs and many replacements are handled on site. If the job needs shop conditions we will tell you that when you call.
Do you replace car door glass and back glass, not just windshields?
Yes. Side windows, quarter glass and rear glass are all part of what we do, including the cleanup that comes with a shattered side window. Tempered side and back glass breaks into small pieces rather than cracking, so it is always a replacement rather than a repair.
Do you handle commercial and fleet windshield replacement?
Yes. We work with local businesses on vans, trucks and service fleets, and we can schedule several vehicles together so your crews are off the road for as little time as possible. Call the shop and ask for fleet scheduling.
How long does auto glass work take?
A chip repair is usually about thirty minutes. A windshield replacement typically takes an hour to ninety minutes, plus a safe drive-away period so the adhesive can cure before the vehicle goes back on the road. We will give you the drive-away time for your specific vehicle before you leave.

Run a business rather than a vehicle? We also handle commercial glass — storefronts, entrance doors, partitions and safety glass across Columbia and Lexington.
Will you handle my insurance claim?
Yes. We are a preferred provider with all major insurance companies, and we can talk you through the whole thing when you arrive. You have the choice of whatever glass shop you prefer to perform the service. Bring your insurance details and we will help file the claim with you and your insurance company. Your insurance agent cannot file your claim — we have to file it through the national claims office. Billing your insurer directly is the norm, unless you are paying out of pocket and not filing a claim at all.
Can you replace my windshield the same day?
Usually, yes. Most windshield replacements take an hour to ninety minutes, and if your vehicle requires recalibration it can take up to three hours. We can get started once your glass arrives at our shop, and we keep the common ones in stock. If your vehicle needs a windshield we have to order in, we will tell you that when you call and give you a realistic day rather than an optimistic one. Call the shop with your year, make and model and we will tell you where you stand.
Does my windshield need recalibrating afterwards?
It depends on the vehicle. Many newer cars have cameras and sensors mounted to the windshield for lane keeping, automatic braking and cruise control, and those have to be recalibrated after the glass is replaced or they can read the road incorrectly. We carry out recalibration ourselves, in our own shop. We will tell you which applies to yours before any work starts, so there is no surprise at the end. This service is also covered by your insurance if you have full coverage.
Can I get original manufacturer glass?
Yes, if you want it — it is available on some newer vehicles. We can fit original manufacturer glass on request, and we also fit quality aftermarket glass that meets the same safety standards, which is what most replacements use. The original manufacturer glass comes through our vendors, and the only difference is the branded vehicle logo in the corner. The quality is the same, you just will not have your vehicle’s logo on the windshield. If you have a preference, say so when you call and we will source accordingly.
Do I need an appointment?
Calling ahead is best, because it lets us check we have your glass before you make the trip, but we will always try to help if you turn up without one. The shop is at 2519 Platt Springs Road in West Columbia, and our mobile service comes to you at no extra charge.
